Most of us have seen them on television and in films. Now, caravan tourism has taken off in Assam too. Tourists in Assam will now be able to enjoy the same experience with the newly introduced two caravans by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) yesterday on 20th September 2014.

CM Tarun Gogoi Flags off Caravan

Chief Minister Mr Tarun Gogoi yesterday flags of two caravans for the first time in Assam. Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has modified and installed all basic amenities required by tourists during any trip which includes sofa-cum-beds, AC rooms, small kitchen, toilet, microwave oven, camera, inverter, generator, audio and video systems. It will cost an amount of Rs 8000 to travel a distance of 200 km for tourists.

It is expected that tourists would be able to rent the caravans for trips to religious places like satras, historical sites and also for nature tourism. The caravans would be available for both day-long tours as well as for longer durations.
