Central function of Anundoram Borooah Award 2012 held at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati on Monday. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi inaugurated this year’s Anundoram Borooah Award here for the first division holders in HSLC, High Madrasa and Senior Madrasa exams in the State. The award was today given to the first division holders in Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts which includes a Laptop and Citation Certificate.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister said that the Anundoram Borooah Award is being given to encourage the students in their studies and to change their mindset. The Anundoram Borooah Award is instituted in 2005 by the Chief Minister in honour of the great Sanskrit scholar, the first Assamese and 4th Indian ICS to promote a competitive spirit among the students as well as to equip them with the latest information and knowledge through the use of information technology.
Since its inception, the Anundoram Borooah Award has spread the benefits of IT to more than 1, 12,500 students till 2011. This year, 26,788 first division holders in the HSLC, High Madrasa and Senior Madrasa exams will receive the Award district wise.
