Starting from this year Filmfare awards will be given away for Assamese Film too along with Bengali and Oriya cinemas. This is the first time that the much coveted film awards, known as the Oscars of India will be awarded to these three regional film industries.

Filmfare Awards for Assamese Films

The Vivel Filmfare Awards 2013 will be given away at the Science City auditorium on March 29. The 29 awards that will be handed over in various categories include 21 trophies for Bengali movies and four each for Oriya and Assamese films.

The nominations will be broadly divided into four segments – Popular, Technical, Debut and Critics awards. In Assamese and Oriya segments, the four awards will be given to the four popular categories only.

The Black Lady was unveiled here by actor Prosenjit Chatterjee along with Tarun Rai, chief executive officer, Worldwide Media, the publishers of Filmfare magazine, and Sandeep Kaul, chief executive, personal care products business, ITC Ltd on Sunday.
