At last political parties from Assam has finalized their candidates for Rajya Sabha polls to be held on 7th February. Rajya Sabha elections in Assam will be held for three seats.
Congress today announced the names of chief of the party in Assam, Bhubaneshwar Kalita and Sanjay Singh, MP from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, as party nominees. Sanjay Singh, a former minister in Uttar Pradesh, has big influence in Amethi, the constituency of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
Current Rajya Sabha MP Biswajeet Daimary will be the candidate from BPF, an ally of Congress in the government.
On the other hand, veteran journalist Haidor Hussain will be the consensus candidate from the opposition camp of AFP, AIUDF and BJP.
