Khap Panchayat Bans Tenants from Northeast in Delhi

A Khap Panchayat from Munirka has ordered the landlords in Munirka area to evict all the tenants from North East within 3 months, as per tweets by Bina Nepram, a noted activist from Manipur.

 

 

Now students and activists from the northeast Monday met Delhi Police officials at the Vasant Vihar police station demanding action against a khap panchayat that threatened to evict tenants hailing from the northeastern states.

The Khap panchayat’s decision came a few days after a 14-year-old girl from Manipur was forcibly grabbed and allegedly raped by her landlord’s son in the same area. The incident triggered huge protests from Northeast people.
