New Assamese feature film, Momtaaj, directed by veteran Filmmaker Pulak Gogoi and produced under the banner of Sai Films is going to release on next Friday (23rd August) all over Assam. Incidentally, Momtaaj is adapted from Assamese writer Syed Abdul Malik’s story, Kathphula.
Gogoi resumed his role behind the camera after a decade with Momtaaj, following Patni in 2003.
The film begins when a 23-year-old youth, Momtaaj, meets an 18-year-old girl, Bedana, in Guwahati after she runs away from her home Morigaon to escape being sold by her foster mother.
Empathizing with Bedana’s plight, Momtaaj invites her to stay at his home. She accepts his offer and the couple start living together. The story takes a turn when society objects and asks them to get married. Subsequently, they part ways.
Bhargav Das and Ananya Parashar play the lead roles in the film. The music for this 85-minute film is by Palash Gogoi.
