The second edition of North East Festival (NEF) – Connecting People Celebrating Life is going to be held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Janpath, New Delhi, from November 7 to 10. The importance of North East Festival has gone manifold after the recent racial disturbances especially in Delhi. This time the theme of North East Festival is “Insurgence to Resurgence”.

It would be an attempt to showcase the new & vibrant North East and highlight various facets of the region.  The event would be biggest ever on India’s North East and is expected to be attended by more than one lakh people. It is important to note that for the first time 8 state government of North East region joined hand to promote and North East Culture and to highlight various issues faced by the region.

The four day extravaganza- biggest ever on North East India will be a carnival of North East folk music, ethnic dance, performance by top musical icons, ethnic fashion show, North East Foods, tourism etc. The NEF is also a platform to highlight the various issues of the region. During NEF 2013 serious discussion on issues of importance such as Internal security and look east policy, Tourism B2B, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Student security in Delhi etc saw participation of top bureaucrats of the country as well North East stakeholders – journalists, intellectuals, State Govt, student bodies etc.

This year North East Festival would be a platform to discuss issues like Security of North Eastern people in Delhi, IT Opportunities in the North East, Sporting Culture in the North East, etc.

Fashion Show @ North East Festival

The North East Festival is organized by socio-cultural trust Trend MMS, in association, North East Community of Delhi (comprising student organizations, activists of the North-east based in Delhi) and IGNCA. The event has also become part of the prestigious Delhi International Art Festival.
