Tawang to Host Second International Tourism Mart

The second edition of the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Govt. of India’s mega travel event, International Tourism Mart (ITM), will be held on October 17 and 18 in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh which is known as the ‘Last Shangri La on Earth’. It may be recalled that the first edition of the international Travel Mart was held in Guwahati in January, 2013 in which more than 80 foreign delegates representing 26 countries participated. The Ministry of Tourism earlier in May 2013 has selected Tawang as the venue for this prestigious international event to highlight northeast as a favored Tourist destination to the international tourism.

International Tourism Mart Tawang 

International Tourism Mart is an initiative by Ministry of Tourism to create a platform for tourism stakeholders from North East India to showcase the region as a tourist destination and promote their products to domestic and international buyers. The second edition is expected to witness participation of 150 international buyers from 25 countries. The international participants will include tourism boards as well as travel trade members from both ASEAN and SAARC countries. This information was revealed by Parvez Dewan, Secretary, Tourism, and Govt. of India. 

Besides all the states in North East India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram), West Bengal Tourism will also be part of the Mart and exhibit its tourism products at the two-day event.
