Ahom Kings and Their Alternative Names

On ascent, the Ahom Kings would generally assume an Ahom Name decided by the Ahom priests. The name generally ended in Pha (Tai: Lord), e.g. Susenghphaa. Later kings also assumed an alternative name; mostly an Hindu name that ended in Singha (Assamese: Lion): Susengphaa assumed the name Pratap Singha.

Trivia:

Suhungmung was the first Ahom king to adopt a Hindu name in addition to his Ahom name. The Hindu name he adopted was ‘Swarga Narayan’.

Similarly, many other Ahom kings too assume Hindu Names. Here is a list of Ahom Kings with their alternative names.
